{"id":2,"date":"2018-10-09T16:23:50","date_gmt":"2018-10-09T16:23:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bluemuse.univ-lyon1.fr\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2025-04-03T08:34:02","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T08:34:02","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/bluemuse.univ-lyon1.fr\/","title":{"rendered":"About BlueMUSE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BlueMUSE <\/strong>is an<strong> optical seeing-limited, blue-optimised, medium spectral resolution, panoramic integral-field-spectrograph, <\/strong>to be installed on one of the telescopes of the<strong> VLT on Cerro Paranal (Chile). <\/strong>The project is an evolution of the technology used on the very successful <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/muse-vlt.eu\/science\/\">VLT \/ MUSE instrument<\/a><\/strong>, with a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bluemuse.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/instrument-concept\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"601\">similar architecture and technology inovation<\/a>, <\/strong>but with <strong>new and distinct science case enabled by its <a href=\"https:\/\/bluemuse.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/characteristics\/\">main characteristics<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a wavelength coverage 350 &#8211; 580 nm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an average spectral resolution R=4000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a&nbsp; field-of-view higher than 1arcmin\u00b2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BlueMUSE will offer new and <a href=\"https:\/\/bluemuse.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/bluemuse-science\/\">unique science opportunities<\/a> in many fields of astrophysics, beyond those possible with MUSE. Among the science goals available with this new instrument, it will survey large sample of massive stars in our galaxy and the Local Group, study ionized nebulae, starburst and low surface-brightness galaxies.
